Central District (CDIST) hosted an anti-burglary forum on February 22 to strengthen partnership with residential building management offices in combating burglary. Forty-three representatives from building management offices in the Peak and Mid-Levels took part in the event, which was held with the support of the Regional Crime Prevention Office (RCPO) and the Regional Rural Patrol Unit (RRPU) of Hong Kong Island (HKI).

Assistant District Commander (Operations 2) Liauw Ka-kei said in his opening speech that collaboration between the security sector and the Police is crucial for preventing and detecting crime. He appealed to the practitioners to stay vigilant, enhance communication with the Police and provide crime information.

Then Peak Sub-Divisional Commander Tsai Tung-hung analysed the crime trend and the modus operandi of culprits, and reiterated the main duties of security personnel. Officer-in-Charge of RRPU HKI Kwong Ling-fung explained the work of a rural patrol unit and shared tips to prevent burglary in hillside estates whilst officers of RCPO introduced anti-burglary devices for beefing up the security of housing estates. The participants thanked the Police for arranging the forum and promised to work with the Police in fighting crime.
