The Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB) organised the PH Race at JPC@Pat Heung on April 21 to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) cum the 45th anniversary of the Junior Police Call (JPC), and to enhance the public's understanding of the JPC and the positive image of the HKPF.


The PH Race was an obstacle course that was jointly designed by the PPRB and the School of Design of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University under the concept of "co-creation". The race featured 19 challenging levels and incorporated some unique elements of police work. For instance, the contestants had to wear mock bullet-proof vests and carry police shields to run back and forth to experience police work.


The obstacle course comprised elite, challenge and family categories. About 500 representatives from disciplinary forces, police elite units, police districts, JPC, uniformed groups, Project Legacy, universities and families participated in the race. Director of Operations Siu Chak-yee and Assistant Commissioner (Operations) Mak Chin-ho also formed a team to take part in the event.


Officiating at the opening ceremony were Permanent Honorary President of the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong Dr Eddy Li, Group General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of Asia-Pacific at The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited Mr Raymond Cheng, Acting Commissioner of Police Tang Ping-keung, Director of Personnel and Training Li Kin-fai, Director of Operations Siu Chak-yee and Assistant Commissioner (Support) Lam Hiu-tong.


Apart from the obstacle course, exhibition booths were set up to introduce the police elite units as well as emerging sports, such as Mölkky, SkeeGolf and ShuffleBoard. A spectacular performance of "Unimog Pull" was also arranged. The participants enjoyed the variety of activities.
