The Police Philatelic Club held an exhibition on philatelic and nostalgic items at the Police Sports and Recreation Club from May 11 to 13 to mark the 175th anniversary of the Hong Kong Police Force.


Officiating at the opening ceremony of the exhibition were Director of Operations Siu Chak-yee, Director of Management Services cum Chairperson of the Police Arts Council Ms Lau Chi-wai, Honorary Presidents of the Police Philatelic Club Mr Yip Cheung-chun and Mr Wong Pui-yin, honourable guests from Hongkong Post and Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department as well as representatives of philatelic associations from Shenzhen, Dongguan, Macao and Hong Kong.


The exhibition put on display philatelic and vintage Police items such as a Police Director's wand and unique documents from 1940's. In addition, three local experts, namely Messrs Henry Ho, Cheng Po-hung and Lee Man-tung, were invited to deliver talks on Police history as well as vintage money and stamp collections. Furthermore, philatelic workshops were held for youngsters.


The event drew an attendance of 800 participants. The Police Philatelic Club will continue to liaise with its counterparts on the Mainland and in Macao and Hong Kong with a view to strengthening camaraderie and promoting its activities.
