The Eastern District Road Safety Carnival 2019, co-organised by Eastern District (EDIST) and the Traffic and Transport Committee of the Eastern District Council (TTC EDC) with the sponsorship of the EDC, was held successfully in Sai Wan Ho on August 24.


The carnival aimed to disseminate the message of "Love Yourself, Love Your Family, Be a Smart Pedestrian". A variety of activities, including dancing performance, a foot drill demonstration and more than 20 game booths, were held for over 2 000 participants.


At the opening ceremony of the carnival, Deputy District Commander of EDIST Yau Sin-man promoted the importance of road safety and explained how to be a smart road user. Ms Maggie Chang, the EDIST Road Safety Ambassador for 2019-2020, also shared road safety knowledge with the audience.


Other officiating guests of the ceremony included Vice-Chairman of EDC Mr Chiu Chi-keung; Assistant District Officer (Eastern) Mr Lo Cheuk-lun; Chairman and Vice-Chairman of TTC, Mr Ngan Chun-lim and Mr Ho Ngai-kam; Chairman of TTC's Working Group on Public Transport and Road Safety, Mr Leung Kwok-hung; Senior Superintendent Yip Siu-ming of Traffic Hong Kong Island Region; Chairman and Vice-Chairman of EDIST Road Safety Publicity Campaign Committee, Dr Liu Kai-ming and Dr Lam Chi-kit; and Assistant Commander of Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (Hong Kong and Islands Region), Mr Lam Chun-man.
