The Anti-Deception Coordination Centre (ADCC) of the Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) conducted a webinar on anti-deception on August 6. Over 100 Mainland students and teaching staff from local tertiary institutions and members of Mainland student organisations joined the webinar.

Following a welcome speech delivered by CCB Chief Superintendent Wong Chi-kwong, ADCC officers briefed the participants on the latest modus operandi of telephone deception, offered anti-scam advice and promoted the use of the “Anti-Scam Helpline 18222”. Lastly, CCB’s counterfeit expert shared how to identify counterfeit banknotes. ADCC officers encouraged the participants to use the Force’s Facebook Page, Instagram and Weibo to receive anti-scam information.

The video conference utilised technology to overcome social distancing restrictions amid the epidemic. The ADCC will continue to disseminate anti-scam messages and promote its services to Mainland students, teaching staff and various stakeholders through different platforms.
