In view of the fact that dogs being suspected of having eaten poisoned baits placed on the roadsides on Hong Kong Island were subsequently found dead, officers of the Regional Crime Prevention Office of Hong Kong Island (RCPO HKI) and Peak Sub-Division launched a publicity campaign on July 23 in the vicinity of Victoria Peak Garden, Coombe Road, Mount Cameron Road and Middle Gap Road to raise the awareness of the public. During the campaign, police officers distributed leaflets to dog owners to remind them to look after their pets so as to prevent them from eating suspicious food left on roadsides. Dog owners fully supported the police action and would keep watch on their pets.
