The COVID-19 outbreak has posed an unprecedented challenge to Sham Shui Po District (SSPODIST). During this unparalleled time, frontline Uniform Branch officers of SSPODIST had been listed as close contacts by the Department of Health on three occasions and had to undergo compulsory quarantine. On two of the occasions, the officers had been in close contact with confirmed COVID-19 cases due to their necessary frontline duties, including bedside duty and handling of dead body found, 24 officers were therefore required to undergo compulsory quarantine.

The management of SSPODIST maintained close communication with the affected officers to appreciate their needs and concerns in the course of quarantine, sent greeting cards, delivered daily necessities, and provided timely support to them and their family members.

In late August and mid-September, SSPODIST Commander Ho Kai-hin visited the affected officers who had resumed duties and expressed his gratitude for their devotion to duty during the COVID-19 outbreak. The officers also thanked SSPODIST for the care and support.
