Commissioner Tang Ping-keung visited Traffic Branch Headquarters (TBHQ) on November 9, during which he listened to briefings on the latest development of traffic policing, including the application of “Social Innovation” concept to enhance public participation in road safety promotion activities; the utilisation of community, government, and other available resources in traffic policing and enforcement, such as encouraging the public to report traffic offences with video evidence as well as exploring the use of closed-circuit television (CCTV) network of Transport Department in traffic enforcement; and the development blueprint of applying technology in traffic enforcement, such as introducing an intelligent traffic ticket processing system and installing CCTV cameras on police motorcycles to enhance operational support and enforcement capability.


When meeting with a cross-section of TBHQ officers, the Commissioner outlined the Force’s directive in response to challenges faced by the Force after the social unrest and the outbreak of COVID-19. Meanwhile, he also took the opportunity to express his heartfelt appreciation to TBHQ officers for their endeavour and contributions made in meeting these challenges. TBHQ officers were encouraged by the Commissioner’s visit and will continue to serve Hong Kong with Honour, Duty and Loyalty.


During his visit to Tsuen Wan District (TWDIST) on November 26, the Commissioner was briefed on a number of local initiatives which aim at enhancing beat patrol coverage and the tackling of specific crimes, promoting community engagement through the leveraging of existing and new relationships as well as enhancing quality of service by crime officers for witnesses and victims of crime.


The Commissioner then met with a cross-section of staff and took the opportunity to express his gratitude for their efforts, fortitude and professionalism displayed during Operation TIDERIDER. He also provided an update on new initiatives of the Force and areas of focus in policing.
