The Police College had earlier suspended the Command Courses due to operational commitment. Following the resumption of the Junior Command Course and the Intermediate Command Course in August and November 2020 respectively, the Senior Command Course (SCC) for superintendents restarted in February 2021.

The SCC aimed to enhance participants’ strategic understanding, crisis management capabilities and ability to shape the Force in the future. The course covered national security and explored the impact of geopolitics and media ecology on policing work. Former Commissioner Lee Ming-kwai and scholars from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy of the National University of Singapore also shared their knowledge on critical decision-making. In addition, the Operations Wing ran a workshop on public event policing and arranged a visit to the Police Tactical Unit Headquarters to enhance the participants’ understanding of the Force’s latest tactics and equipment in handling major incidents.

Commissioner Tang Ping-keung congratulated the participants, including two officers from the Auxiliary Medical Service and Civil Aid Service, upon their completion of the course. He emphasised the importance of upholding the right values and attitudes whilst building up one’s capabilities as well as awareness of national and international issues.
