Commissioner Siu Chak-yee attaches great importance to internal communication. He visited the Aberdeen Police Station and the Marine North Division (MNDIV) at Ma Liu Shui Base on August 28 and September 11 respectively to exchange views with officers of Task Force Sub-units of Aberdeen Division (ABDDIV) and MNDIV. The Commissioner expressed his appreciation to officers for their devotion to duty and discussed with them the challenges they faced when performing frontline duties. He also responded to officers’ questions regarding equipment, operational needs, manpower and welfare.

During his visit to ABDDIV, the Commissioner commended the officers for their efforts in implementing Project “HomeSafe Synergy” to combat debt collection related cases. Apart from listening to the challenges officers face when conducting anti-burglary patrol in rural areas, the Commissioner expressed his views on how to prevent lone-wolf terrorist attacks and reminded officers to pay attention to their safety at work.

When meeting with MNDIV officers, the Commissioner shared his insights on community policing as well as strategies for garnering public support and confidence in the Force. The Commissioner also mentioned a case in which a frontline officer showed his empathy to a victim during investigation. The officer’s small gesture of kindness made a big difference. After the incident, the victim changed his impression of the Force and he even wrote an appreciation letter to commend the officer concerned.

The Commissioner encouraged ABDDIV and MNDIV officers to continue to perform their duties with professionalism and communicate with the public sincerely so as to maintain the positive image of the Force. The officers appreciated the Commissioner’s visits and they were confident that they could live up to the Force’s motto of “Serving Hong Kong with Honour, Duty and Loyalty” under the Commissioner’s leadership.
