The Chief Executive has approved the extension of the service of Mr Yang Joe-tsi as the Commandant of the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force (HKAPF) for two years and six months up to July 6, 2024.


Mr Yang, aged 64, is the marketing director of a local property firm. He joined the HKAPF as a Constable in April 1989. He was promoted to Superintendent (Auxiliary) in October 2004 and was appointed as the Commandant in April 2016.


Mr Yang has a wide range of operational and management experience. He was awarded the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Long Service Medal with the First Clasp in 2014, and the Hong Kong Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2017. In 2020, he was awarded the TIDERIDER Medal. In 2021, he was awarded the Commissioner’s Commendation for his leadership and professional ability displayed during and after Operation TIDERIDER.
