警聲

The Chinese People’s Police Day on January 10 is set by our country in recognition of the dedication and contributions made by the Chinese People’s Police to the country and the people. The Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) is honoured to be a member of the police force and took the opportunity to launch the HKPF’s WeChat official account to pay tribute to our Mainland compatriots.

In addition to YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Weibo, the HKPF’s WeChat official account is the sixth social media official account of the Force. Currently, there are many WeChat users in Hong Kong, and through this WeChat account the Force can reach out to more citizens, disseminate messages to them in a timely manner to promote crime prevention and anti-scam information, and introduce police work to enhance the transparency of the Force. Furthermore, the Force will share different police stories on the WeChat account to promote its professional image, so as to gain citizens’ trust and support.

WeChat is an instant messaging software and an information sharing platform with its own uniqueness. The HKPF’s WeChat official account can make use of the “Message Push” mode to broadcast information to followers. A menu bar is also available on the WeChat account, making it more convenient for citizens to browse other Force’s social media platforms and e-Report Centre, etc.

Moreover, many Mainland residents who study or work in Hong Kong use WeChat. With the launch of the official WeChat account, the Force provides them with an official channel to receive crime prevention and anti-scam messages as well as useful police information, so that they can seek help from the Police when they encounter difficulties or suspicious deception cases.
