On the morning of December 11, 2021, officers of Marine South Division (MSDIV) received an emergency request for police assistance. A citizen reported that the sail of his windsurfing board was broken and he had fallen into the sea due to exhaustion. He was windsurfing alone at the time and was unable to ascertain his exact location.

Patrol Sub-unit 3 of MSDIV deployed a Medium Patrol Launch to the scene to conduct a search. The distressed citizen was found drifting off the waters near Bluff Head situated at the Southern tip of the Stanley Peninsula. Officers rescued him and lifted the windsurfing board and the broken sail onboard the police launch. The citizen sustained no injury.

Later, the citizen expressed appreciation to the officers for their professionalism and efforts during the rescue process. The officers were very encouraged and would continue to perform their duties in the spirit of “Serving Hong Kong with Honour, Duty and Loyalty” and safeguard sea safety.
