On December 18, 2021, District Commander of Central District (CDIST) Lam Hung-chuen led over 30 Central Junior Police Call members and students from St Paul’s Co-educational College and Aberdeen Technical School to visit the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Hong Kong Garrison Exhibition Center at Ngong Shuen Chau Barracks to cultivate their sense of belonging to the country and national identity.

The exhibition center was opened in July 2021. With the theme of “Dreams of the East”, it comprises three halls with themes including the Chinese dream, the dream of building a powerful military and Guardians of Hong Kong, and a zone displaying models of military equipment. A variety of graphic panels, antiques, scene sculptures, guide videos and models of the PLA’s military equipment are displayed in the exhibition center. Through the guided tour conducted by representatives of the Garrison, the participants learnt about the PLA’s development in military equipment and enhanced their understanding of the motherland and the PLA. CDIST hoped that youngsters can better understand national affairs and strengthen their sense of national identity through this visit, so that they can serve the community and the motherland in different positions in the future.
