The Service Quality Wing (SQW) renewed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on academic collaboration with the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) on January 26. The MoU aims to foster a cooperative partnership between the two parties by providing opportunities for CityU students to conduct policing-related research within the Force under a credit-bearing student internship programme. The MoU was first signed in 2013 and subsequently renewed in 2016 and 2019. Since then, 17 undergraduates have participated in the programme.

The MoU was signed by Assistant Commissioner (Service Quality) Tsang Yim-sheung and the Head of the Department of Public Policy of CityU Professor Ho Tat-kei. The ceremony was also attended by Assistant Professor Dr Wen Bo and Senior Teaching Fellow Dr Cheung Kam-chuen of the Department of Public Policy of CityU.

The SQW will arrange a six-week internship for undergraduates of the CityU’s Department of Public Policy to engage in policing-related research or projects. The MoU not only marks a milestone for closer collaboration between the Force and the CityU, but also demonstrates the Force’s commitment to maintaining close liaison with scholars and young people for deepening mutual understanding and delivering better services to the public.
