[YLDIV] Walk an extra mile to help family of the deceased

On February 26, a 99-year-old man felt unwell in the elderly care home and was conveyed to Pok Oi Hospital. He passed away after unsuccessful resuscitation attempts. Patrol Sub-unit 4 of Yuen Long Division (YLDIV) took over the case. Police Constable Fung immediately informed the old man’s next-of-kin to go to the hospital. Yet the family members had not showed up after quite some time. Police Constable Fung was worried and contacted the old man’s daughter again. He learnt that she failed to hail a taxi due to the severe epidemic situation at that time. Under the practicable circumstance, Sergeant Tsang and Police Constable Tai arranged transportation for her to go to the hospital in order to expedite the process.

The daughter later wrote a commendation letter to express her gratitude. Since the outbreak of the epidemic, the Force has remained steadfast in serving the public with compassion and professionalism. The Force will continue to fight against the virus with the public.

[PTU] Offer a hand to citizen in need

The Government enforced a “restriction-testing declaration” and issued compulsory testing notice in respect of the specified “restricted area” at Pok Yat House, Pok Hong Estate in Sha Tin between March 31 and April 1. Platoon 1 of the Police Tactical Unit (PTU) Operational Contingents (2) was responsible for performing duties at the restricted area on March 31. In the afternoon of March 31, Sergeant Lam and Sergeant Lee spotted an old lady carrying several heavy grocery bags outside the restricted area, and later learnt that she was a resident inside the restricted area. She felt helpless because of the long detour with her heavy grocery. As such, the officers helped her carry the heavy groceries and accompanied her back to her residence.

A citizen witnessed the incident and wrote an appreciation letter to praise the officers of the Platoon 1 of the PTU Operational Contingents (2) for their professionalism and empathy. The officers are very encouraged and will continue to serve the community with empathy and commitment.
