Yau Tsim Distrcit (YTDIST) organised a ceremony on April 22 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Project Gemstone. Commissioner Siu Chak-yee, Deputy Commissioner (Management) Chow Yat-ming, Regional Commander of Kowloon West Rupert Dover, District Commander of YTDIST Yeung Man-pun and commanders having contributed to Project Gemstone in the past, together with chairman and members of YTDIST Junior Police Call Honorary Presidents Council also attended the ceremony.


The Commissioner presented souvenirs to Consulate General of India and stakeholders to thank them for supporting Project Gemstone all the time. Former members who are now members of the Force also presented souvenirs to the commanders in expressing their gratitude. Moreover, former project members from the Force, Correctional Services Department, Fire Services Department and Customs and Excise Department shared their thoughts and stories to encourage non-ethnic Chinese youths to strive for a better future through improving their Chinese language capability.


YTDIST launched Project Gemstone in February 2013, for the purpose of improving the Chinese language proficiency of ethnic minority youths for their better integration into the society and joining the Force or other disciplinary services.
