The 2023 World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) will be held in Winnipeg, Canada from July 28 to August 6. This is the first large-scale international sports event that the Force will join since 2019. More than 280 elite athletes from 20 Police Sports Clubs will be sent to compete in the games.

To boost the morale of the Force delegation and thank the community leaders and organisations sponsoring and supporting the Force to join the games, the Police Sports Council (PSC) held a flag presentation ceremony at the Police Officers’ Club on May 17. Community members and groups who have been supporting the Force were invited to attend the ceremony. Commissioner Siu Chak-yee presented the flag to the PSC Chairman Chan Sze-tat, symbolising that the Force athletes will achieve victory.

The Hong Kong Police Chinese Wushu Club was invited to perform a wonderful lion dance performance. Certificates were also presented to the winners of the Force Delegation Sportswear Design Competition funded under the Police Staff Motivation Scheme, which aimed to enhance the officers’ national identity and sense of belonging. The competition was well responded with a total of 100 entries. The Gold Award went to Police Constable Choi Chun-yip, whose work has obtained the permission of Protocol Division Government Secretariat to use the regional flag and will be the team uniform for the delegation to compete in WPFG.
