The Complaints Against Police Office (CAPO) organised a visit for Chairman of the Independent Police Complaints Council (IPCC) Ms Wong Pui-sze and 14 IPCC members to Mong Kok District (MKDIST) and Emergency Unit of Kowloon West (EU KW) on March 14.
Accompanied by the Director of Management Services (DMS) Lui Kam-ho, IPCC members received briefings from representatives of MKDIST and EU KW on the operation of the special temporary holding area in Mong Kok Police Station, as well as the operational roles and responsibilities of EU KW. During the visit, frontline officers of EU KW shared their experiences of handling emergency cases and the challenges they faced when making instant decisions under pressure. Members agreed that the Hong Kong Police Force was one of the most professional law enforcement agencies in the world and encouraged officers to maintain professionalism in challenging situations.
In addition, officers introduced various equipment. Through a scenario-based demonstration on the tactical approach of controlling a targeted vehicle, officers showcased EU’s tactical application, as well as its coordination and response capabilities in emergencies. The visit not only offered IPCC members an opportunity to further understand police work, but also enabled frontline officers to gain a better understanding of the roles and functions of the IPCC.
