Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) secured four international awards, including the International Press Prize that the Force garnered for the first time, a Gold Medal with the Congratulations of Jury, as well as one Gold and one Silver award, at the 50th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva held between April 9 and 13 in Geneva, Switzerland.

Under the theme of “Building a Secure Cyberspace”, CSTCB showcased three innovative solutions, including:

1. Scameter Series – an anti-scam initiative comprising a mobile app with real-time scam detection, open-data policies sharing threat intelligence with strategic stakeholders, and partnerships with banks to send public alerts, securing the International Press Prize and Gold award;

2. CryptoTrace – a virtual asset (VA) analytics platform jointly developed with the University of Hong Kong, supporting frontline investigation officers in analysing VA transactions and conducting stop-payment mechanism by applying blockchain technology and streamlining the procedure, securing the Gold Medal with Congratulations of Jury; and

3. RAPID Engine – an AI-powered tool for inspecting suspicious websites, and the results are updated to the Scameter database in a real-time manner and sent to internet service providers for blocking, effectively enhancing the ability to resist phishing threats, securing a Silver award.

These accolades reflect the Force’s achievements in the application of AI, blockchain and cybersecurity. It also demonstrates the Force’s unswerving commitment to promoting smart policing, improving enforcement efficiency and tackling emerging technology crime.
