Commissioner Chow Yat-ming led the Hong Kong delegation to join the National delegation to attend the 93rd INTERPOL General Assembly held in Marrakech, Morocco on November 22, and commenced a four-day meeting. The Commissioner accompanied the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Public Security Mr Xu Datong to receive the INTERPOL flag at the closing ceremony, symbolising that the next General Assembly will be held in Hong Kong.


The Assembly this year brought together more than 800 police leaders and government officials from 179 member countries worldwide to discuss policing issues and enhance collaboration. During the Assembly, the Commissioner met with representatives from law enforcement agencies of a total of 15 countries to discuss collaboration against cross-boundary crimes, personnel training and exchanges, etc., fully embodying the strategic inclination and concrete actions of “Connections to Chinese Mainland and world”.


At the closing ceremony, the Vice Minister Mr Xu Datong took pride in recalling that China had hosted the INTERPOL General Assembly twice in Beijing, and selected Hong Kong, China as the host city this time. The Commissioner expressed gratitude to the Central Government and the INTERPOL for entrusting Hong Kong, China with this honour to be the host city of the next General Assembly. He pledged that the General Assembly next year will continue to be the most inclusive and insightful conference securely designed for participants to experience the best of the nation’s culture, innovation, facilitation and hospitality.
