The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau (EOD) conducted an inaugural Post-Blast Investigation Course for the Singapore Armed Forces’ explosive ordnance disposal unit from October 6 to 10. A total of eight Singaporean officers participated, comprising five officers who participated in the training as trainees and three senior officials who joined as observers to understand the design and implementation of the course.
The course focused on the scientific investigation procedures for explosion scenes, covering professional areas such as site evidence identification, analysis of detonators, residue sampling and the writing of investigation reports. The course also imparted the operation and application of various advanced disruptor equipment to the trainees.
This training not only strengthened the exchange between the Hong Kong Police Force and the Singapore Armed Forces to enhance the capabilities in bomb disposal and investigation of the two places, and also signified that the professional standards of the EOD had gained international recognition.
