The Regional Crime Prevention Office of Kowloon East (RCPO KE), as well as the Police Community Relations Offices of Tseung Kwan O and Sau Mau Ping Districts, collaborated with the Ethnic Minority Care Teams (EM Care Team) from CHEER and LINK Centres to organise a series of events in early November to promote child protection and anti-drug messages to non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) families. Among these events, the “Protect Our Children, Say NO to Child Abuse” seminar cum barbecue day held on November 8 attracted around 85 NEC participants.
In his opening remarks, Deputy Regional Commander of KE Mark Anstiss noted that child protection is a shared social responsibility and the Force will continue to work with the community to strengthen education efforts. Officers from RCPO KE and the EM Care Team then introduced the latest Mandatory Report of Child Abuse Ordinance and related support services to the participating parents, and shared messages on child protection and the harms of drugs.
Led by President of the Tseung Kwan O Senior Police Call Honorary President Association Dr Chiu Sze-cheung, participants also visited Tseung Kwan O Police Station and joined a barbecue and farming experience at a local farm on that day. The event helped foster trust between Police and citizens, and raised awareness of child protection among ethnic minority communities.
