To enhance anti-drug education among adolescents, Kwun Tong District (KTDIST) organised a life education event “Practicing Mindfulness in Dawn Island”. On October 25, 2025, students from primary and secondary schools in the district were arranged to visit Dawn Island Gospel Drug Addiction Treatment Centre to witness firsthand the life of rehabilitated drug abusers and their unswerving determination. Afterwards, KTDIST organised a “Practicing Mindfulness in Dawn Island Creative Contest” to encourage the students to express what they saw and thought through works of writing, drawing and photography.

The contest drew an overwhelming response. Students expressed their enlightenment of staying away from drugs and loving life in their creations. As judges, KTDIST Commander Cheung Tin-yee and Chairman of Kwun Tong District Fight Crime Committee Mr Chan Wah-yu selected the winning works from numerous outstanding entries that delivered compelling impact. For the Award Presentation Ceremony held on December 18, 2025, the two judges and Chairperson of Kwun Tong District Junior Police Call Honorary President Council Mr Chan Yiu-hung were invited to be the officiating guests and award presenters to present awards to the winning students in recognition of their efforts and creativity.

The event which combined experience, mindfulness and creation enabled the adolescents to get enlightenment from real stories so as to develop proper values and be determined to say “No” to drugs.
