On January 3, the Kowloon East Region (KE) organised the “KE STEAM x SPORTS DAY” at Tung Po in Wong Tai Sin, with the theme “Integrating Technology into Daily Life, Education Deeply Rooted in the Heart”, attracting around 2 000 participants. Building on the momentum of the 15th National Games, this year’s event integrated STEAM and sports to encourage the youth to enhance their physical fitness and inspire their innovative thinking.
The event was officiated by Commissioner Chow Yat-ming, the then Regional Commander of KE Dr Law Yuet-wing, and the current Regional Commander of KE Tse Tsui-yan. In his speech, the Commissioner expressed gratitude to the KE Happy Teen Committee and all cooperating parties for their support of the event. He pointed out that nurturing the next generation involved not only imparting knowledge and promoting physical well-being, but also helping them develop correct values, a sense of social responsibility and law-abiding awareness.
The event featured an Artificial Intelligence (AI) competition for primary and secondary schools in Kowloon East, as well as Chinese-style foot drill, drama and dance performances by students. In addition, interactive booths were set up by various Force units and community groups to promote national security, anti-drug awareness and scam prevention among young people. Participants also had the opportunity to engage in AI-powered sports activities, learning how technology can enhance athletic performance.
The event also strengthened collaboration between the Force and community stakeholders, and promoted the integration of technology, education and sports.
