The launching ceremony of the Youth-No-Scam Protection Hub (the Hub) jointly established by the Force and the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) was held on January 29. The first Youth Anti-Scam Forum was also held on the same day.
The Hub brings together the efforts of law enforcement agencies, social welfare organisations, financial and payment institutions, academia and other sectors. It has also invited institutions and experts from various fields to join its advisory group. The Hub proactively addresses the scam risks faced by young people on multiple levels to realise the vision of “YOUTH-NO-SCAM”.
The Hub’s three major areas of work are referring cases identified by the police to the HKFYG; organising workshops and family education seminars in secondary schools, as well as producing anti‑scam educational videos targeting students; and conducting questionnaire surveys and case studies for the publication of the Annual Youth Anti‑Scam Report.
The Youth Anti-Scam Forum brought together over 50 experts and decision-makers from the government, social welfare organisations, financial and payment institutions and academia as speakers and guests. More than 330 teachers and students from ten universities and secondary schools attended the event. The forum covered various topics, including the latest scam tactics; common traps and countermeasures; psychological traits and behavioural patterns of fraudsters; support services for victims, teenage culprits and their families; and anti-scam strategies. There was also an exchange session with the youth representatives during the forum.
