On February 5, Assistant Commissioner (Public Relations) (ACP PR) Chan Sze-tat led a delegation to Beijing to attend the National Flag Presentation Ceremony, and received a national flag presented by the Administration of Tiananmen Area of Beijing Municipal People’s Government.
This flag was previously hoisted in Tiananmen Square on August 10, 2017, the same day as the opening of the Junior Police Call Permanent Activity Centre and Integrated Youth Training Camp at Pat Heung (JPC@Pat Heung). It also resonates with the upcoming 10th anniversary of the Centre next year.
JPC@Pat Heung was established in 2017, which also marked the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland. That same year, President Xi Jinping paid an inspection visit to the Centre, demonstrating the great importance attached by the country to youth development in Hong Kong.
To further promote patriotic education, the Public Relations Wing actively coordinated and communicated with the relevant authorities, and was eventually presented with this national flag. The flag will be kept carefully in a dedicated display case at JPC@Pat Heung accompanied by detailed explanations and enhanced display features to showcase its glamour to the young visitors.
In addition, JPC@Pat Heung will include national flag-themed training sessions in all its camps, thereby enabling young people to gain a deeper appreciation of the patriotic values behind the flag and strengthen their understanding of our country’s history and national identity.
