There are a number of key facilities across sectors such as aviation, transportation, energy and tourism in New Territories South Region (NTS). To enhance defence capabilities, NTS launched Project KEYSTONE and invited the participation of 87 critical infrastructures and key facilities in the Region to strengthen communication and collaboration.
The kick-off ceremony for the Project was held on February 11. Regional Commander of NTS (RC NTS) Cheung Wai-wah officiated at the ceremony and presented appointment certificates to the participating institutions, marking a significant step towards a more systematic and strategic partnership between NTS and relevant stakeholders of the key facilities. District Officers were also invited to attend the ceremony, during which they exchanged views with over 80 representatives of various infrastructures and key facilities. In his speech, RC NTS remarked that safeguarding social security required the concerted efforts of different stakeholders and industry practitioners. He also hoped that the Project could help unite community efforts to achieve greater synergy and fortify the line of defence together.
During the ceremony, officers from the Critical Infrastructure Security Coordination Centre and the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau shared the latest information on infrastructure protection and cyber security. In addition, the Airport Security Unit and the Emergency Unit of NTS showcased their professional equipment, while the Regional Crime Prevention Office of NTS disseminated crime prevention messages to the participants.
