To tackle the risks and opportunities associated with innovative technology, Chief Superintendent of the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) Lam Cheuk-ho led 30 frontline crime officers from CSTCB and Project COHERE to Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Dongguan for visiting Fengyi Technology, EHang Intelligent and Huawei Enterprise respectively for technology studies and exchanges between January 15 and 16.
The delegation exchanged with relevant enterprise experts, and gained insights into the impact of the emerging fields such as low-altitude economy, intelligent Internet of Things and data fusion on the future security landscape of smart cities. The roles of artificial intelligence and big data analytics in enhancing the criminal investigation capabilities and operational efficiency of the Force were also explored during the exchanges. The visit enhanced the delegation’s understanding of the challenges associated with digital transformation and the corresponding solutions, inspiring the officers’ mindset of “Tackling technology with technology”.
Since the implementation of Project COHERE, 44 inspectorate officers and sergeants have been arranged to take part in officer exchange programs which lasted for nine to 12 months with crime officers from CSTCB, Commercial Crime Bureau and Financial Intelligence and Investigation Bureau. More than 127 thematic operations targeting technology crimes and the associated laundering proceeds of crime activities were mounted, resulting in the arrest of over 7 100 criminals.
