Launch of downtown anti-crime drone patrols in CDIST

On February 13, Central District (CDIST) started deploying drones for high-altitude anti-crime patrols in downtown areas.

To promote public understanding of the scheme, a drone flying demonstration was held on February 5 in the district, followed by the distribution of information leaflets on February 12. Members of the Central & Western District Council and the Central & Western District Fight Crime Committee joined the Force to put up “Police Drone in Operation” banners in the patrol areas.

CDIST officers will conduct high-altitude anti-crime patrols in the district and work closely with the patrol officers on the ground to maintain public order and combat crime in a comprehensive manner.

Professional training for Force Drone Cadre

To enhance professional capabilities in drone application and to support ground tactical operations, the Force Drone Cadre sent members to attend the Aerial Videography Course in Guangzhou from January 12 to 16.

The course covered scene composition, the use of light and shadow, and various location shooting techniques. Through both theoretical learning and practical training, Cadre members developed advanced skills such as dynamic tracking and rapid orbit shooting, thereby effectively enhancing operational stability and image quality, and facilitating the provision of real-time, clear aerial footage to the commanding officers on the ground.

The skills acquired will help improve overall operational efficiency by enabling the commanders to better understand the on-site situation, deploy manpower more flexibly and formulate appropriate strategies.
