Guided Emergency Response Drill Demonstration and Training for Schools

Jointly organised by the Inter-departmental Counter Terrorism Unit (ICTU), Operations Wing of the Hong Kong Police Force, Fire Services Department and Education Bureau, the Guided Emergency Response Drill Demonstration and Training for Schools was held on February 4. The event attracted nearly 400 teachers from over 260 primary and secondary schools.

Since the implementation of the Three-tier Prevention Framework for counter-terrorism (CT), the ICTU has been enhancing the coordination of CT education efforts. The training programme combined thematic sessions, on-site demonstrations and scenario‑based drills to help the primary and secondary school teaching and training staff understand the practical aspects of emergency response drills in schools, and deepen their awareness of various CT messages, such as “Spot and Report”, “Run, Hide, Report” and the “Three Basic Skills on Emergency Preparedness”. The programme also covered the identification of early signs of self-radicalisation and associated potential risks, thereby strengthening schools’ capability to handle such issues.

Greater Bay Area Youth Dodgeball Competition

The ICTU hosted the finals of the first Greater Bay Area Youth Dodgeball Competition at GO PARK Sai Sha on January 25. The competition attracted over 600 players from 56 teams from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.

The opening and award presentation ceremonies were officiated by Under Secretary for Security Cheuk Hau-yip, Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Yip Wan-lung and other distinguished guests. In addition to dodgeball matches, CT exhibitions and booth games were set up at the venue. ICTU members also promoted CT messages to the participating players through emergency response demonstrations.

Before the competition, ICTU members arranged visits for the participating players from the three places to the Police Museum and Safe Community Hub, allowing them to understand the CT roles, work and equipment of different units.
