To further strengthen frontline commanders’ capability in operational command and decision making, the Operations Wing (OPS Wing) ran the sixth Advanced Incident Command Course between March 2 and 6 for a total of 12 Senior Superintendents and Superintendents.

The course included a series of tabletop and ground exercises on the themes of major public events, major incidents, terrorist incidents and security operations for enhancing the commanding and decision-making capability of participants in handling emergency. The participants considered that the course was challenging, and helped them boost their capability and confidence in handling all types of emergency incidents.

Attendance of the course is a prerequisite for being selected to join the Command Cadre, which is a pool of commanders selected and trained to assume field command of major operations or incidents. To ensure that the commanding abilities of the commanders are always maintained at a highly effective level and their operational command knowledge are up to date, the OPS Wing will continue to organise tailor-made thematic training and exercises.
