The Police College (College) re-appointed four local scholars as Honorary Senior Research Fellows and Honorary Research Fellows for a two-year term. Director of the College Cheng Lai-ki presented the certificates of appointment to them on May 13 and explored the direction for future research collaboration. Professor Karen Laidler of The University of Hong Kong (HKU) was re-appointed as Honorary Senior Research Fellow, while Professor Wong Wai-ching of HKU, Professor
Zhong Hua of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Dr So Chun-lung of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University were
re-appointed as Honorary Research Fellows.
The College has completed several academic research projects in collaboration with the four re-appointed scholars over the years in areas including positive thinking and emotional fitness training, enhancement of psychological wellness among police officers, reasons for suicide and preventive strategies, cross-border drug abuse trends and anti-drug initiatives, occupational safety and health risks in recruit training, investment scams, as well as financial crimes with international elements and the related crime prevention education. The research findings are available at the Force Research Repository, and can be accessed via the “Knowledge Management Portal” at POINT.
The College launched the Honorary Research Fellowship Scheme since 2015 to enhance the Force’s academic research capability by leveraging the research expertise of the scholars, as well as identify and develop good policing practices through empirical research projects.
