The Emergency Unit of New Territories South (EU NTS), New Territories South conducted an inter-departmental major incident exercise on May 15 in collaboration with the Home Affairs Department, Care Teams, Hospital Authority, Fire Services Department, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited, Hong Kong Association For Conflict & Catastrophe Medicine, and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. The exercise aimed to enhance the communication, coordination and immediate response capabilities among government departments and stakeholders in dealing with emergencies.
The exercise simulated a fire incident which broke out in a transitional housing arising from short-circuiting. The units immediately launched evacuation, urgent relief, incident handling and after-care services. The internal mobile application “iCasualty" was also utilised to strengthen inter-departmental information exchange, and enhance the efficiency of managing casualties, conducting investigations as well as handling family inquiries.
NTS will continue to maintain close liaison with stakeholders, and regularly review relevant contingency plans with a view to ensuring public safety.
