The Operation Breakthrough Dragon Boat Club hosted the Operation Breakthrough 30th Anniversary Dragon Boat Friendship Charity Race at the Ma Liu Shui Marine Police Base on August 8. Over 120 athletes and spectators participated. President of the Lions Club of Huaxia Hong Kong Mr Ethan Cheung and Assistant Commissioner (Operations)
David Jordan were also present to show their support.
The Lions Club of Huaxia Hong Kong Dragon Boat Team, the Kowloon West Youth-Care Dragon Boat Team, the Project Gemstone Dragon Boat Team and the Operation Breakthrough Dragon Boat Team were invited to the race. The athletes demonstrated remarkable determination and indomitable spirit.
The event also raised approximately $40 000, which will be fully utilised to support various youth development projects for advancing the motto of the Operation Breakthrough - Sports Can Change Lives.
Since its establishment in 1996, Operation Breakthrough has been committed to introducing sports activities to underprivileged youth and encouraging them to build a positive attitude of life through interacting with role models.
