HKI conducts exercise for major international conferences
To prepare for a series of major international conferences to be held in Hong Kong later this year, the Hong Kong Island Region (HKI), in collaboration with various districts, the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB), and organisations operating large outdoor electronic or digital display screens (ODDS), conducted an exercise codenamed “BROADVIEW” on October 16. The exercise featured a thematic sharing session and a simulated emergency response test.
During the sharing session, Superintendent of the CSTCB Hui Yee-wai spoke on cybersecurity preparedness and incident response for digital display screens. Approximately 90 people attended, including officers from the Regional Command and Control Centres, Regional Emergency Units (EUs) and Task Force Sub-units, as well as representatives of companies operating large ODDS. Through real-life cases, they learned about the potential consequences of cyber intrusions and how to conduct risk assessments, use checklists, and implement relevant security recommendations.
The exercise simulated cyber intrusions affecting large ODDS at four locations. Participating units promptly activated their emergency response mechanisms, immediately coordinated with technicians to block the unauthorised content, and deployed personnel from the Regional EUs to provide backup support and assistance.

Force and HYAB co-host Volunteer Induction and Selection Programme
In order to implement the directions of “enhancing youth development opportunities” and “supporting young people in pursuing their dreams” in the First Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (2026-2030), the Force and the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau (HYAB) held the Volunteer Induction and Selection Programme on September 28. The youth volunteers selected will act as helpers in the forthcoming 94th INTERPOL General Assembly. The event drew 121 young people.
In their remarks, Chief Superintendent of the Financial Intelligence and Investigation Bureau Chan Kam-kuk and Chief Executive Manager (Youth Affairs) of the HYAB Ms Luk Sze-wan encouraged participants to seize the opportunity and demonstrate their enthusiasm for volunteering and commitment to professionalism.
The selection process comprised group discussions and scenario-based assessments for assessing participants’ linguistic and communication skills, teamwork, response capability and passion for services. Participants were engaged enthusiastically, fully reflecting the vitality and commitment of young people. Selected youth volunteers will receive professional training to tell the good stories of Hong Kong to delegates during the General Assembly.
