The Counter Terrorism (CT) Education Thematic Exhibition, organised by the Inter-departmental Counter Terrorism Unit (ICTU) with support from the National Security Department, was launched on October 24. Secretary for Security (S for S)
Mr Tang Ping-keung officiated at the opening ceremony, which was also attended by representatives from the six disciplined services and their affiliated youth groups.
Located in the lobby of the Hong Kong Museum of History, the exhibition is divided into four thematic zones covering the definition of terrorism, Hong Kong’s CT legal framework, the current CT landscape, and the roles of various government departments in CT work. The exhibition features multiple interactive elements to help visitors learn how to respond to dangerous situations. A real wartime bomb weighing over 1 000 pounds, provided by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau (EODB), is also on display.
The exhibition is running until March next year. All districts are encouraged to actively promote it and invite schools and community members to visit, thereby further enhancing public awareness and emergency preparedness.
Additionally, the “Safe Community Plus+” education truck, jointly operated by the ICTU and the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, was launched on the same day. Featuring a brand new design and various interactive games, the truck will visit schools and the community over the next six months to spread CT messages.
