ENTERED THE DRAGONS


LONG distance runner PC Wong Wing-kuen once again won the gruelling Nine Dragons Race making this the third time he has prevailed in the hilly 18 kilometre course, which he finished in an incredible time of 1:04:04.

Competition between runners was keen, with Sergeant Chan Ka-wai from PTU HQ crossing the line to take second place in 1:05:44. He was also the winner of the men's invitation event.

Third home was invitation senior A G Gidley in 1:06:18.

Airport Security officers made a clean sweep of the trophies in this race with the Unit winning the Kowloon Team Trophy and the men's senior event being taken by another ASU officer, Lau Chun-pong.

The men's veteran one event was clinched by SPC EU KW Lo Yuk-keung, while DSgt Li Yik-ming from Crime KE won the men's veteran two competition.

Supply Assistant Yeung Mei-lun won the ladies' invitation event finishing it in 1:19:54.

The Nine Dragons was run from Pak Tam Chung Country Park to Hoi Ha and back along the same route. This was a new route to the 240 runners who participated in the marathon and considered a challenging improvement over the previous Dragons held in Kam Shan Country Park.
