Director Management Services Dick Lee Ming-kwai officiated at the opening ceremony on behalf of the Force, together with representatives of five other forces. The Hong Kong Police were led by ACP Information Systems Peter Halliday whose unit had topped the formation fundraisers within the Force with a total of $100,000. Western District was next best with $17,000, while Hong Kong Island Headquarters came the third raising more than $11,000. The Force has so far raised $180,000. All donations will be used to fund the 1998-99 Hong Kong Special Olympics Games and year round sporting activities for mentally handicapped people. |
