Heard Smart programme
TO promote a healthy lifestyle. PTS recently organised a Heart Smart Programme with the Princess Margaret Hospital which consisted of health talks given by doctors and dieticians, health checks and exhibitions.

The aim of the programme was to alert participants of the need to pay attention to their health while educating them on the proper way of choosing their diet.

The hospital arranged for 20 nurses and volunteers to help promote healthy lifestyles for more than 300 PTS members.

ACP Training Millie Stradmoor, C PTS Wong Doon-yee, CSP Ian Tyzzer of the In-Service Training Bureau, Training Wing, also took part in the event.

Participants received a comprehensive physical check-up which included a body fat and waist/hip ratio analysis, as well as blood pressure, "smokerlyzer" , blood/sugar and cholesterol checks.

All involved received health counselling by a dietician.

At the end of the programme, participants had a better understanding about their personal health and learned ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle by following the advice of the dieticians.


Twelve Honorary Presidents

Marine Port District Commander Au Hok-lam together with the newly appointed Honorary Presidents
MARINE Port District recently held a cocktail reception to present certificates of appointment of Junior Police Call Honorary Presidents to 12 individuals who will serve for a period of two years. Over 140 guests attended the presentation including Islands DFCC members, local Area Committee members, Rural Area Committee members and representatives of fishermen's associations and marine traders' associations.

Said Au Hok-lam, District Commander, Marine Port District: "Honorary Presidents play an important role in promoting the JPC movement and the District will continue its efforts to attract more young people to join the scheme."


University Students continue their visit to formations
A TEAM of four university students on a research project to better understand the Force and its dedication to service quality, continued their visit by dropping in on Personnel Services Branch. Chief Superintendent Martin Samson gave them a brief introduction to the Branch's daily operations and the services it provides. His powerpoint presentation was well received. After the briefing the students called on the Hong Kong Island Police Welfare Office, the Psychological Service Group, Police Quartering Division and the Police Officers' Club.
