ASSISTANT Commissioner of Police Fung
Siu-yuen officiated at the Crime Prevention Bureau "Access Control Module" opening
ceremony held on 25 September and attended by some 50 guests and officers.
The new module demonstrates the latest access control systems, including a scrambler key pad, micro-card system, magnetic stripe card system, smart access control system, video phone system and a fingerprint verification system. Mr Fung presented cerificates of appreciation and CPB plaques to 15 local security companies (members of "The Security Association") who provided equipment and resources to enable the module to be set up. |
The module, along with the CPB Display Room, provides excellent examples of the current security systems available in Hong Kong. Members of the public and Government departments can arrange visits through the CPB R & A Section (telephone:2721-2486). |
Debut of the "Doggie Cam" | |
UK Ministry of Police Dog Team's Quinn is
wearing the WOLVES TV camera system designed to allow canines to enter and search
premises alone.
A camera is strapped to the back of the animal and a jacket with battery packs on each side slipped over its body. An infra red panel able to light up an area 10 metres in front of the dog is attached to its chest harness. Everything the police dog sees is relayed via a transmitter to its handler who views the scene on a small portable screen. |
