Extra studies 'enrich' a new breed of officers

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Training) Yip Kwok-keung was also among the guests of honour. In recent years the Force has seen more staff living healthy lifestyles by enrolling in different courses to enrich themselves. This was reflected by the 780 police officers registered in the Policing and Security Studies group which made up almost 90 per cent of the student population of 900. One of the things that has not changed in Hong Kong over the years is the Police's continued role in maintaining the prosperity and stability of the community. "Faced with a fast-changing society, we have to equip ourselves with the most up to date knowledge and I think this is equally important for all police officers as well as civil servants in serving the community," Mr Tsang said.

According to the school, who organised the course which started in March last year, more than 90 per cent of the students gained an average attendance rate of higher than 80 per cent while the average pass rate was as high as 85 per cent. Quite a number of police officers excelled in their studies with 10 of them being selected as Outstanding Students.

*Note: According to HQOs 50/94 Pt. I and 1/97 Pt. I, officers successfully completing the Studies are entitled to partial reimbursements of their tuition fees. For details, please call Chief Inspector/ Support/ Training Anita Luk at 2882-7060.
