DMS calls on CAPO HKI

The Director of Management Services, Lau Yuk-kuen, visited the Hong Kong Office of the Complaints Against Police Office (CAPO HKI) in Causeway Bay on July 5.

Accompanied by Senior Superintendent of CAPO Ip Lau-chuen, Mr Lau toured the report and video interview rooms and was later briefed by Superintendent of CAPO HKI Chiu Sim-hung on the Force complaints situation, the team structure and responsibilities of CAPO HKI, the proactive approach of the office, along with the work of the Complaints Prevention Committee.

During the visit Mr Lau also chatted with police and civilian officers.

Since the start of the year, CAPO HKI has adopted a more proactive approach in complaints investigation and put more emphasis on liaison with formations.

Any unusual complaints trend was brought to the immediate attention of the formation commanders concerned. Chief Inspectors of different teams of CAPO HKI also conducted regular complaints prevention seminars for frontline officers and briefed them on current issues of concern.

During a seminar held at Western Police Station on July 2, Woman Chief Inspector Julia Lau and other inspectors briefed officers on complaints on assaults made by illegal immigrants, along with complaints on Identity Card checks, stop and searches and supervisory accountability.

It was one of four seminars organised for Western District this month.
