Draggin' back: A swarm of runners storm off from the starting line with PC Ching Ying-wai heading the pack

More than 500 participants turned out for this year's Nine Dragons Race, the last of the millennium.

Kowloon East Region hosted this year's event on November 19 at Pak Tam Chung, Sai Kung.

Considered one of the toughest and most challenging races on the Force calendar, 1999 marked the fifteenth running of the event and the annual increase in participants reflected the growing popularity of the Healthy Lifestyles campaign.
