Day on the water for SCDS

SCDS members headed by chairman Miriam Lau (waving) get whisked away in the nimble Cougartek vessel

Members of the Standing Committee on Disciplined Services Salaries and Conditions of Service (SCDS) visited the Force on March 11.

Led by chairman Miriam Lau Kin-yee, the delegation of six visited Waterfront Police Station, the Special Duties Unit Boat Team Base and Marine Regional Headquarters.

They were briefed by Waterfront Divisional Commander Chan Yue-wah on the formation's work before meeting some of the formation's officers. They then boarded a police launch to Hung Hom to see the Force's diving role in anti-terrorist and search operations, before witnessing a marine anti-terrorist exercise by SDU officers. They role-played hostages and much to their relief, were rescued safely.

They also sampled the handling capabilities of the new Cougartek craft of Marine Region.

Marine Regional Commander Foo Tsun-kong later accompanied the visitors back to Marine Regional Headquarters where they met a host of officers.

The delegation included Martin Barrow, Cheng Kai-nam, Nicholas Chiu, Almon Poon Chin-hung and Yeung Ka-sing.
