Fair way to cut vehicle crimes
Thousands of visitors flocked to Hong Kong Island Region's vehicle-crime awareness fair on April 29 at Southorn Playground, Wan Chai. Vehicle crime in the Region rose 10 per cent to 158 cases in the first quarter of this year, over the same period last year, and the fair highlighted the problem of vehicle crime, particularly thefts, and offered security tips. The fair saw performances by the police band and a display of anti-car theft products and equipment. Also on show were some vintage cars, sporty four-wheel drives, the Crime Prevention Bureau's mobile display bus and one of the Force's Saxon armoured vehicles.
HKI Senior Superintendent (Crime) Wong Fook-chuen officiated at the opening ceremony.
