In the drink: Police Sub-Aqua Club members sample marine life in the turquoise Andaman Sea off Phuket

Officers got the diving experience of their lives exploring the pristine waters and abundant marine life off Phuket March 28 to April 3.

The Police Sub-Aqua Club held an advanced seven-day diving course near the Thai island resort, one of the world's diving meccas. The 12 members spent three days aboard a professional diving boat to cruise an idyllic archipelago in the Andaman Sea about 90 kilometres west of Phuket.

Police officers, translators, traffic staff and their families made up the team, led by Senior Inspector Tse Pui-wah of Traffic Kowloon West and Detective Police Constable Chu Wai-leung of Hong Kong Island Regional Anti-Triad Squad, both qualified diving instructors.

The divers were thrilled by the clean beaches, clear waters, and the labyrinth of multi-coloured coral and other marine life which included water snakes, green turtles and a wealth of tropical fish. They learned advanced diving techniques like deep diving, night diving, navigation, drift diving and boat diving.

With torches in their hands and fluorescent sticks on their backs, they embarked on their first ever night dive and exploration of deep crevices spotting fascinating luminescent fish.

Out of the water, members also found time to stroll along Phuket's beautiful beaches at sunset and tour scenic spots.

The Police Sub-Aqua Club welcomes Regulars, Auxies, civilians and their family members aged 15 and above to join the club and enjoy its many activities. For details call Tse Pui-wah at 2398-6482.
