PVC volleys multi-uni threat

The Police Volleyball Club overcame intense competition to storm to victory in the Felicia Cup on Easter Sunday.

The squad overcame five ladies teams from the Chinese, Science and Technology, Baptist, Polytechnic and City Universities to take this year's title.

After a morning of first round knock-outs, the Police ladies team comfortably secured first place to advance to the afternoon's second round where they faced the daunting task of squaring off against last year's champs City U to get to the final round.

Despite losing the first heat, a strong will to win managed to get the Police team up front in the second game and thanks to some top tactics, they overcame their strong and young competitor again in the third to move to the final.

Facing this year's mighty Polytechnic team, a quick debriefing to refresh long-practised skills and to deter silly errors was held to get the team ready for the tough fight.

After some intense action the Police team beat the Pollies 25 to 22. With Police leading 13 - 6 at one point, the Pollies valiantly fought back in the closing stages to close the gap but were unable to pull the win.

The University of Science and Technology defeated City U to secure the second runners-up prize.

The Police Volleyball Team welcomes new members to join practise sessions from 6.30 to 10 pm Thursdays at the Police Sports and Recreation Club. Contact Chung Tai-keung at 2417-5212 or 8103-3979 for info.
