Purse pinchers punished

I am writing in behalf of my wife, Lourdes Lopa San Gabriel, who recently stood as a witness to a theft case in which she was the victim.
I accompanied her during the trip back to Hong Kong on April 13 and we have now returned home to Manila after a successful hearing in which the defendants admitted their guilt.
My wife immediately received her remuneration for her witness role, along with items used as evidence by the court. As such, we would like to extend to the Force our sincerest appreciation for the very swift handling of the case.
The police officers involved, particularly Detective Senior Inspector Tang Wai-sang and Detective Police Constable Eric Lee, were very accommodating during the whole process. We would also like to commend them for a good job.
We hope you continue to be vigilant against such cases.

(Editor' note: Mrs San Gabriel was the victim of a theft case on February 26 while shopping in Tsim Sha Tsui. She was approached by a Pakistani man who took six US$100 notes from her purse. It was witnessed by officers of Tsim Sha Tsui Division' Patrol Sub-unit Five. He and two accomplices were arrested and handed over to Divisional Investigation Team Four headed by DSIP Tang. DPC Lee was the interviewing officer and has since been promoted to Sergeant and transferred to Patrol Sub-unit Three, Kowloon City Division.)
