Neighbour's noise settling

(This letter was sent to Siu Lek Yuen Divisional Commander Chau Siu-keung) We are writing to thank two officers who stepped bravely forward to protect the rights of citizens. We feel sorry they were subject to impoliteness and verbal abuse in doing so, and the experience has made us realise that in the execution of their duties, police always find themselves in an awkward situation.

After we made a report to Police, noise from mahjong games and other things have continued emanating from our neighbour's flat. However, the last thing we would like to see is our neighbours being invited to a police station. Therefore, we took heed of your officersÕ advice by asking our owners, committee to mediate and settle the noise case in a milder form.

Thank you for your patient assistance and please accept our apology for all the trouble caused.

Mr and Mrs Lai
City One, Sha Tin

(Editor's note: The two officers who handled the noise complaint were Police Constables Fung Yiu-cho and Mak Kwok-leung of Patrol Sub-unit Three, Siu Lek Yuen Division.)
